The Hike | Troy Ehardt
Support Troy and his efforts at National Links Trust’s ‘The Hike at East Potomac’ on Monday, June 9th
My grandfather introduced me to the game when I was just a kid. He taught me the fundamentals - repairing divots, controlling my temper (still working on that one), and respecting the course. We didn’t belong to a country club or have access to an esteemed course. We cut our teeth on affordable, municipal golf.
I kept playing as I grew older, joined the high school golf team, and eventually played a couple of years in college. I put the clubs down for a while to enter the professional world, but I quickly realized how the lessons I learned in golf apply to everyday life - evaluating risk, managing expectations, and understanding the value of hard work.
Like many, COVID brought the game back to the forefront of my free time. Keeping my game tight while living in the city isn’t always easy, which is why I’m especially grateful for East Potomac. A municipal sanctuary on the outskirts of the city that brings beginners and grinders together.
It’s a true pleasure to participate in The Hike and raise money for a place that has given me so much. Municipal golf is special, and I want to thank the National Links Trust for doing everything it can to protect it.
See you out there - let’s hit ’em straight.
