The Hike | Ryan Mattern

Support Ryan and his efforts at National Links Trust’s ‘The Hike at East Potomac’ on Monday, June 9th

Participating in the National Links Trust 100 Hole Hike in 2023 was one of the most memorable experiences of my golfing life. It was incredibly rewarding to contribute to and be part of the NLT’s mission to preserve and enhance accessible, affordable golf in the DC area. Over the past year, I’ve spent more time focusing on improving my diaper-changing skills than my short game, but I’ve continued to look for meaningful ways to stay connected to the game and give back to the community. Returning to complete the 100 Hole Hike feels like the perfect opportunity—not only to support a cause I deeply believe in but also to help leave a positive impact on the DC golf community for future generations, including my twin daughters. Having previously volunteered at East Potomac Golf Links for The First Tee, I’ve seen firsthand the value of these facilities, and I look forward to one day introducing my daughters to the game through these programs. Supporting the National Links Trust is my way of ensuring that the joy and life lessons golf offers remain accessible to all.
