ABOUT THE PROJECt

Starting on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, the Miniature Golf Course at East Potomac Golf Links will be closed while it undergoes maintenance and repair projects. The course is a valuable cultural asset - the oldest continuously operating miniature golf course in the country and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It attracts people of all different backgrounds to our facility for fun, affordable recreation, but in its current state, it does not live up to its potential. This project aims to address that and restore the course to its former glory.

This work is being undertaken in partnership with the National Park Service who have been incredibly supportive of our vision for the future of public golf in our nation’s capital. Needless to say, we are eager to share more details about our plans in the coming weeks, and are incredibly grateful for the NLT community’s ongoing support of our mission. Stay tuned for more!

COURSE HISTORY

Built in 1931, the Miniature Golf Course at East Potomac Golf Links is the country’s oldest continuously operating miniature golf course and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. When it was originally designed, patrons putted through small replicas of the White House, Capitol Building, and Mount Vernon, and played into the night under lights. While these features were eventually eliminated, the course remained a popular, affordable recreation option for people of all backgrounds in the city. After years of deferred maintenance, the course is currently in need of repair. National Links Trust, who assumed operation of the facility in 2020, will be addressing these repairs starting in March of 2024.
